Up In Smoke!!

Super busy crazy weekend and things never seem to go as planned!! Friday evening my oldest daughter and I met to go to the mall to get a few things done for my daughter, Kaitlyn, wedding shower next Sunday. I still have not found a dress for the wedding and I wanted to find something new for the shower.

First we stopped in at the Nordstrom Cafe for dinner. The salmon and steamed veggies was so good!! Thanks, Jennifer:)

I did try on a few dresses at Nordstrom, but they were just not right for me. There was one other dress that I saw that I may go back and try. I was not dressed for trying on dresses. Just so much work taking on and off what I was wearing and besides, I was just not in the mood!!

We did go to the Gap because I have been wanting to try on their new colored skinny jeans!! I love all the colors and thought the mint green was so cute. After trying them on, then looking at the price $69, I just could not justify that much for one pair of pants and colored ones at that. We decided to stop in at Forever 21. So glad I did. They had cute colored jeans for $14! I ended up getting an entire outfit for the shower under $60!!! Totally affordable and you do not feel guilty about your purchase.

Saturday morning John and I were up early (we had some snow Friday night so I passed on meeting my running group) and instead of going to the grocery store on Sunday, we decided to get it out of the way. I made up my menu for the week and got my list ready. It is always nicer to go to the store together. I pack Johns lunch each day, usually leftovers from dinner the night before. He likes to wonder around for something different and mix it up instead of a sandwich everyday. I have to say that I always spend more when he is with me!

I bought these at the store and LOVE them!!!

I made myself egg whites, spinach and feta cheese. So good.

This is when my weekend did not turn out as planned. I turned the oven on to make my husband a pizza. After just a few minutes it looked like the 4th of July inside my stove!! Sparks were flying along with flames, smoke and strange noise!! Immediately I called my husband inside and he turned off the stove and we pulled it out to unplug it. We even had to pour water inside it to get the flames out.

My stove has not been acting great for the past few months, but this is the worst time to have to replace a stove! We have a wedding in 6 weeks!!!

So the rest of my Saturday was spent shopping for a new stove. Ugh, we went to 5 Home Depots and a Lowes. In search of a clearance, floor model, Maytag, stainless steel, electric range. This was not easy, but
WE DID!!!!!

Out with the old

We replaced our fridge several years ago. Our other appliances are 14 years old, so we can't complain. Once we started looking at the stoves, my husband thought it was best to replace the microwave too. Afraid that if we chose not too, then the color of the steel would not match. Through my tears, I agreed!!

I am happy with how it turned out, just not the best timing!! Thank goodness for a Home Depot credit card. Gives us a little time to get it paid!!

Happy with how my fruit stand looks:)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Did anyone else have a weekend that did not go as planned??

Who else spends more money at the grocery store when their husband goes with them??

  1. How scary that your stove caught on fire! What terrible timing! I do love the stainless steel though. All of my appliances are white, I would eventually like to get stainless steel too. It looks so classy!
My hubby doesn't go to the store with me very often, but when he does, I actually spend less! He's more frugal than I am, and sometimes questions whether we really need something. When I go alone, I can get whatever I need, and he never knows! :)
And I LOVE colored skinny jeans, I've been wanting to get the mint green ones too. I'll have to check out Forever 21!
